VICE PRESIDENT OF COMMUNICATIONS

Reports To:

President and Board Prerequisites:

1. Must have served as a City Center Director, or as a committee chair at the City Center level.

Job Description: The Vice President of Communications shall be primarily responsible for public relations and promotion of the local chapter to the members and to the general public. The Vice President of Communications shall serve as the Chapter secretary (or shall appoint a secretary) and shall be the custodian of all Chapter records. The Vice President of Communications shall oversee committees whose responsibilities are to promote communications (newsletter, website, calendar, media PR). The Vice President of Communications shall be responsible for communication with Headquarters for publication and inclusion of information on the International website. The Vice President of Communications shall be responsible for identifying new venues for elevating IIDA in the public eye. The Vice President of Communications will coordinate their efforts with the Vice President of Membership and the City Center directors. They shall also perform such other duties that may be assigned to them from time to time by the President and the Board of Directors.

Newsletter (serve)

Responsibilities:

1. Must work closely with the Communications Correspondent (Secretary) to ensure that accurate and detailed meeting minutes are maintained during the board meetings and communicated to the board within 5 days of the meeting.

2. See that all notices are duly given in accordance with the provisions of the Bylaws.

3. Must maintain the Chapter’s annual report of programs and activities.

4. Oversees the publication of the Chapter newsletter to communicate activities, events, and important information relating to the City Centers as well as other areas of interest to the Chapter members.

5. Coordinate efforts with the VP of Membership and VP of City Centers.

6. Oversee graphics standards for all publications.

7. Establish marketing materials for all publications and membership information.

Reports to: President and communicates with City Center Directors among others. 

General Job Description: Responsible for the development of publicity within the community for programs, activities and special events. Also responsible for communicating information for City Centers activities/events to the Chapter Members via the Chapter newsletter, social media, email, and/or website calendar.

·         Responsibilities 

·         Arrange media and news coverage for programs and events (if applicable, in coordination with the Chapter). 

·         Proof all Chapter communications for clarity, spelling, grammar, and proper usage of IIDA trademarks. 

·         Maintain a file of media output of IIDA and its events.

·         Maintain all records for Public Relations and newsletters. 

·         Maintain and update social media postings on a regular basis. 

·         Interest in writing, networking/attending events will help make you effective in this position. Past experience with social media will help you achieve your goals.

·         Coordinate and supervise the director of the graphic standards/website and director of Social Media. Work with these directors to make sure content is correct, updated

Director of Website:     

·         Reports to the VP of Communications.

·         Maintains and updates information on the website.

·         Works with board to provide content for inclusion on website.

·         Works with City Centers to get event information on the calendar, website and distribution of information through the website.             

·         Reports to the VP of Communications and assists the Director of website.

·         Support the Director of website in all initiatives.

Director of Awards Submissions:

·         Document graphics, events etc. for submission to HQ for chapter awards.

·         Coordination to ensure all events are documented and photographed.

·         Maintain record of all events and photographs of events.

·         Work with board to determine what events to submit and prepare materials for submission.
